All'Aperto Quick Draw
Mount Gretna School of Art is co-hosting All'Aperto Quick Draw with Keystone Italian Project for a one-day juried ‘quick draw’ that runs concurrently with L'Italia Festival of Lititz, PA
Registration is free and open to all members of the public of all ages and experience levels. The key stipulation is that all work be produced from direct on-site observation "en Plein Air" within a 2-hour timeframe, using any 2-dimensional medium.
Prizes awarded by juror, Dorothy Frey:
• Best in Show: $1000
• First place: $750
• Second Place: $500
• Third Place: $250
• Best Drawing Prize: $250
• Honorable Mention(s): ~$50 value
Prize awarded by the Keystone Italian Project:
• Spirit of L'Italia Prize: $150
All artists who register in the 'ages 18+' category will be eligible for cash prizes. There will be other awards and giveaways to recognize talent in the '13 to 17-year-old' category. Children, ages 6-12, are invited to participate in Quick Draw Art Workshops at 10:00 and 12:00, led by The Demuth Foundation.
ABOUT THE JUROR:
Dorothy Frey is as Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at Millersville University in Millersville, PA. Previously, she was the Fine Art Department Chair and Assistant Professor at Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, in Lancaster, PA. Dorothy has also taught drawing at Chautauqua School of Art in New York, and was a student in 2002. She received degrees from American University and Millersville University.
Dorothy’s studio is in Willow Street, PA, on the farm she owns with her husband David Fisher. Her paintings are influenced by the surrounding landscape and domestic interiors. She amplifies and exaggerates forms, spatial tensions, and color relationships to serve as metaphors for individualized experiences.
She is represented by Bowery Gallery, Chelsea, NY.
